Loosing your phone means risking your work life, travel plans, social media connections and loosing touch from friends and families because you’ve lost their phone numbers. To not to face such problems you need to find your phone as soon as possible. Method 1: Locate Your Phone Using Google

Android devices provides their own service of the finding the lost device which is known as Find My device. This service will automatically track your phone’s location, so if it ever goes missing you can open up your laptop or a friend’s phone and find its last known location, ring your phone if it’s nearby and you need a hint, or lock and/or erase your phone if you fear it has been stolen. Devices which have android versions more than 4.4 are eligible to use this feature. Using this feature is easy but you need to set it up first. There are just couple of things you need to do.

  1. Go to settings
  2. Click on google
  3. Click on security
  4. You will see Find my device option. Make sure remotely locate this device is turned on.

After completing the above steps, you will now be able to locate your phone. Some android manufacturers also put their own phone finding apps in the device. Samsung has Find my mobile, Mi has Find device etc. But as long as you have a google account in your phone you can use the Find my device service by google.

 

Method 2: Use IMEI Number to Track Your Lost Android Phone

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. It is a unique 15-digit code authorized by GSMA, just like an identity certificate for your phone. When you buy a mobile phone, its IMEI number will be found behind the battery. Each phone has a unique IMEI number which can be used to track the lost or stolen device. It is very important that you note down the IMEI number of your phone as it can come handy in case your phone ever gets lost or stolen. When your phone gets stolen, you should immediately contact your service provider and ask them to block your IMEI number. The police and service providers have databases in which these ID numbers fall into white and black lists, the owner of the phone can report his/her IMEI number and make it blacklisted after a theft.

How to Get the IMEI number of your phone?

There are many ways to find your IMEI number, but i will show you some easiest methods. All you need to dial is *#06#. The IMEI number will appear on your screen. You don’t even need to press the call button.

Another way to find your IMEI number is by going to settings>About and you’ll find the IMEI number of your phone.

IMEI numbers can also be found below your battery. You can remove your battery from the phone and note down the IMEI number. IMEI numbers are also written in the packing box of the phone.

 

Track Your Phone

Now that you’ve got your IMEI number you can track your phone. There are many phone finder apps which can help you track your phone available on Google Play, such as AntiTheft App & IMEI Tracker, All Phone Location and so on. Let’s take one app for example.

  1. Search for “IMEI tracker” in your Play store and download “IMEI tracker-Find my device”. Then press on download to install the app. But make sure that your phone has android version of 4.4 or higher.
  2. After the app is installed, open the app. Now you will be asked to enter the phone numbers of trusted members and they might be from your family or friend circle. If your phone is stolen or missing and a new SIM is inserted in your phone then, SMS notifications will be sent automatically to all those trusted numbers that you’ve entered the phone number of including IMEI number and Phone location.
  3. The exact location of your lost phone will be shown in the screen of all trusted members. The trusted members can track the phone’s location easily.
  4. The trusted members can also send SMS to your stolen phone and the app will acknowledge it and send the particular location as a reply.
