You definitely must have heard about the dark mode on YouTube. Even though YouTube‘s had a dark mode on its desktop website since 2017, iOS and Android users only got it in the service’s app this year. Many people prefer to use apps in dark mode, if they support it, for some reasons. White text over a dark background seems to pop out of the screen and may seem appealing to some. The dark mode can also cut the amount of light down from a phone’s display.
If you want to turn on or off the dark mode of YouTube in your mobile, then it is not rocket science. Whether you use an Android device, Apple device or you want this tutorial for the YouTube on your PC; we have a perfect tutorial for you. Just follow these simple steps to turn on the dark of YouTube on your android mobile, iPhone or iPad and PC:
For Android Mobile:
1) Make sure that you have the latest version of the YouTube app on your mobile.
You will need to have the latest version of the YouTube app on your mobile phone as there is no feature of dark mode on an older version of YouTube. So, if you have the older version of YouTube in your phone, go to the Play Store and update the YouTube app.
2) Once you open the app, tap on your Google account icon in the top-right corner.
In the top-right corner in your screen, you can see that there is a Google account icon. If you have not signed in to your Google account, you will be asked to sign in to your Google account as soon as you open the YouTube app. If you have installed the YouTube app for the first time on your mobile phone, then first sign in to your google account. After you have signed up or if you have already signed up, look at the top-right corner in your screen, you will see your Google account icon, tap on it to open your account.
3) Scroll down and tap on the “Settings” cog wheel icon.
After you clicked on your Google account icon, you will see the following options. Scroll down the options until you find the option named “Settings.” Click on “Settings” cogwheel icon to proceed further.
4) Tap on the “General” section in the Settings menu.
Under the settings menu, you will see various options. Scroll down to find out option named “General” and tap on it.
5) There should be a “Dark theme” option, with a slider to the right.
As soon as you click on General section, you will see “Dark Theme” option. Scroll down to find this option.
6) Tap on the slider to turn on dark mode.
Now, you just need to tap on the slider and slide it to the right. This will turn on the dark mode of YouTube on your android phone. Remember that, turning on the dark mode of YouTube on your phone can help in saving the battery life of your phone.
For iPhone/iPad:
1) Make sure that you have the latest version of the YouTube app in your iPhone or iPad.
If you have just bought a new iPhone, Go to the App store to download YouTube. If you already have YouTube then update it to the latest version. This is because the older version of YouTube does not support the dark theme mode. Open the YouTube app on your iPhone or iPad.
2) Once you open the app, tap on your Google account icon in the top-right corner.
In the top-right corner in your screen, you can see that there is a Google account icon. If you have not signed in to your Google account, you will be asked to sign in to your Google account as soon as you open the YouTube app. If you have installed the YouTube app for the first time on your mobile phone, then first sign in to your google account. After you have signed up or if you have already signed up, look at the top-right corner in your screen, you will see your Google account icon, tap on it to open your account.
3) Scroll down and tap on the “Settings” cog wheel icon.
After you clicked on your Google account icon, you will see the following options. Scroll down the options until you find the option named “Settings.” Click on “Settings” cogwheel icon to proceed further.
4) Tap Dark theme to toggle the feature on or off.
You will see the “Dark theme” right away after clicking on the “Settings” option. Tap on the slider to turn on the dark mode on your iPhones or iPads. Note that turning on the dark mode of YouTube in your phone can help in boosting the battery life of your iPhone.
For PC:
You can turn on the dark mode of YouTube on your PC regardless of which browser you use be it Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera or be it any other internet browser. It can be done in a minute with certain clicks. Just follow the steps mentioned below:
1) Go to your browser and open YouTube.
On your PC, open the browser you have and then open YouTube on your PC.
2) As the page of YouTube loads, go to your profile, i.e., Google account icon on the top-right corner.
In the top-right corner in your screen, you can see that there is a Google account icon. If you have not signed in to your Google account on your PC, you will be asked to sign in to your Google account as soon as the page of YouTube loads in your PC then first sign in to your google account. After you have signed up or if you have already signed up, look at the top-right corner in your screen, you will see your Google account icon, tap on it to open your account.
3) Among the options that appear on your screen as shown in the screenshot above, select Dark theme.
As shown in the screenshot above, as soon as you click on your Google account icon, the various option appears. You need to Click on “Dark theme: off” option to activate it.
4) Go to “Activate Dark theme” and toggle on or off.
